Years ago, when I first moved to Minneapolis, MN for the hell of it––a job in Wisconsin didn't pan out and I wanted to get to a metro quickly. Turns out, I'm a PNW country girl. Not, a mid-western country girl. There is a difference and I felt so out of water in the football, cheese, flat, lake-effect negative degree cold winter of 2010. Also known as Snowmageddon. Yep. I can do snow, but when I'm able to play in it!
So, I escaped! I went to Puerto Vallarta, México for a couple of months, left my car at some random girls apartment off Craigslist––she kindly said she'd start it every week or so––and sought after family time with my grandparents, surf, bronzed skin, tacos, tequila, and daily beach runs.
This was my view, photo above, from the plane ride down. I melted when I saw the coastline of México––desolate, bare, dry, so colorful against the Pacific. The clouds' shadows reminded me of a surrealist painting and I've even attempted to paint this scene myself a couple of times. It hangs in my office today.
